My speech identifies ten practices that a company, department or individual should seriously consider taking on if they wish to stay relevant and competitive in the next one to five years. These techniques are mostly to do with attitudes, policies and approaches to the way things are done.
I am an internationally recognized expert in project management, change management and productivity, and I have worked with hundreds of companies of all sizes, helping them understand the rapidly changing business environment that they thought they knew. I can share with you the things I taught them – for a fraction of the price.
To be relevant in this age is to be agile, embracing new and better method s of communication, collaboration, productivity, innovation and, of course, meeting a customer’s needs while exceeding their expectations. This is not just a matter of buying a new technology or freshening up an old sales technique. It’s a method of building a community of the right people, building a culture and an attitude that matches the pace and the vibrancy of today’s (and tomorrow’s marketplace).

In this video, I talk about Blockchain. Not because I want you to know about blockchain, but because you should already have learned about blockchain, and you should already have formed a policy around it, both for your customer-facing and administrative goals.

You have to know this stuff. You have to know it before someone (like me) comes along to tell you about it, because by then, you’re already behind.
The other reason why I want you to watch the video is because YouTube is the second biggest search tool on the planet after Google. Why? Because more and more people want to learn things through an audio-visual medium rather than reading a bunch of text like you are doing right now. what is your company’s policy in using YouTube as a tool for external or internal communication? What about the rest of social media?
How do your employees get trained? One-day workshops? Ooh! That’ s painful. I know because I have delivered thousands of them over the years. They don’t work. Hint: Look up the Ebbinghouse Forgetting Curve. People learn through incremental experiences, not geysers of information. So how are you ensuring your people develop the skills you need them to have? By sending them to PODCAST sessions, or by giving them access to online microlearning tools like Lynda.com or the Khan Academy? (If you have not heard of either of these, we REALLY need to talk.)
Bottom line here is that your culture might need to change. But change can be difficult.
